SEPA Power Players Awards FAQs

Does my entry have to include a solar element?

No. Your entry must only fit the criteria of innovation, collaboration and replicability as relates to expanding the integration of distributed energy resources onto the grid and/or working to change the view of the grid to be more reliable, resilient and powered by renewables. This can be in the form of nuts-and-bolts projects, thought leadership or strategic implementations and can include any distributed energy resource.

Do I have to be affiliated or a member of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) to receive an award?

Not at all! SEPA encourages utilities and industry partners of all kinds not currently affiliated with SEPA to apply and showcase their energy industry transforming work.

When will the winners be notified?

Winners will be notified by mid-June. A general announcement will be made at the beginning of July.

How are the winners recognized?

Winners will be recognized during the Smart Electric Power Alliance’s annual Grid Evolution Summit – A National Town Meeting Awards Dinner on July 26, 2017 in Washington, D.C.

Can previous award winners submit again?

The most recent year award winners traditionally serve as a judge following the year of their win. Because of this, the 2016 winners will not be allowed to submit in 2017.

Can programs or products that haven’t been launched yet be nominated?

Yes! The new ‘Visionary of the Year’ category allows products, programs, plans, white papers, etc. that are not yet implemented to be nominated based on their potential to change the energy worldview.

Who is expected to receive the award?

Award recipients must be a high-ranking official or executive. Other individuals essential to the project’s success are encouraged to attend along with the high-ranking receiver.

Can we nominate ourselves?

Absolutely, self-nominations are considered in the same manner as nominations from an outside party or organization.

How can I obtain a ticket or table at the Awards Dinner?

Seats and tables can be purchased as an add on when registering for the Grid Evolution Summit – A National Town Meeting or bought separately, here. The cost is $50 per seat or $350 per table of eight.
