Voices of Experience: SMUD Utilizes Mapping Tool to Support Community Engagement and Partnerships

This webinar is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Electricity’s Advanced Grid Research Division Voices of Experience initiative.

SMUD developed a resource priorities map to identify which areas of their service territory most likely to be underserved or in distress from lack of community engagement, adequate income, affordable housing, employment opportunities, and transportation.  During this 30-minute interactive webinar, SMUD will share how they are using this information to align their investments with both sustainability and equity, and how it is contributing to increased community engagement and partnerships. This session will also provide an opportunity for participants to ask SMUD questions about engaging with community stakeholders around electrification and learn from their experience.

The audience will learn:

How to develop mapping capabilities at your utility
What a mapping tool can do for utilities and their stakeholders to identify electrification programs
How to ensure equity in developing new utility projects and initiatives
