2015 Hawaii Fact Finding Mission September 27 - October 1, 2015 6 days Oahu, HI Our Fact Finding Missions are the best resource for hands-on experience with solar technologies, programs, and policies. Event Archive: Hawaii Fact Finding Mission September 27 – October 1, 2015| Oahu, Hawaii Why did we go? In 2015, SEPA lead a group of approximately 35 U.S. energy industry executives to the energy market “living laboratory” of Hawaii to learn from electricity and solar market leaders who are adapting to change in this dynamic and challenging environment. What was addressed? The program will be discussion-heavy and will focus on questions including: How effective has policy been in meeting goals related to renewable energy; curbing emissions and anticipating impacts across markets? What new business models can help electric utilities to adapt and grow in a market with strong renewable mandates, integration challenges and the threat of declining market share? What tools are needed to cost-effectively shift from a primary reliance on baseload generation to a greater renewable resource mix without sacrificing reliability and while increasing flexibility? What new, effective business models are being developed to ensure revenue and counteract any negative impacts? How can stakeholder and customer expectations be successfully managed in a competitive market? How does a utility strategically and successfully plan for the energy future in a fast-changing environment? Mission executives can expect candid discussions with colleagues and invited experts throughout the mission. Delegates comment every year that the relationships they build over these few days continue long after the mission has ended. Due to the nature of the program, Fact Finding Missions are limited to executives and senior management. Invitation to participate is conditional on a brief questionnaire and acceptance process to ensure a robust experience for all participants.
