Adam Wasserman

Director, Membership & Marketing


Adam Wasserman joined SEPA in 2014 and is responsible for building market awareness and development of SEPA’s products and services. He has spent his career helping a wide variety of organizations advance their marketing message and strategy.

Prior to SEPA, Adam worked with non-profits, technology companies, film and TV productions, advertising firms and a Political Action Committee. A native of Washington DC, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona.

Anita Bonner

Associate, Finance & Operations


Anita Bonner joined SEPA in January 2015 as a Finance and Operations Associate. With more than 15 years of experience in administrative work, Anita has held positions with U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Court System, National Urban League, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Points of Light Foundation.

Anita is a native Washingtonian and loves to cook.

Beth Eagle

Director, Human Resources & Operations


Beth Eagle joined SEPA in September of 2013 with a background in non-profit operations, human resources, project management and fundraising. Previously, she worked for various non-profit organizations in the operations department around Washington, DC. Beth has lived in the area for over 16 years.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland and her Master of Arts from George Washington University. She lives in Maryland, with her husband, son and dog.

Brad Benton

Manager, Membership


Brad Benton is the Membership Manager for the Smart Electric Power Alliance. He joined SEPA in 2015 as Manager of Executive Affairs and moved to the membership team in late 2016. Prior to joining SEPA, Brad worked at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston and for Rep. Emanuel Cleaver from Missouri on Capitol Hill. Brad has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. In his spare time, Brad is an avid traveler and photographer. He lives with his wife in Arlington.

Brenda Chew

Research Analyst


Brenda joined SEPA in 2017. She manages SEPA’s Annual Utility Survey and Snapshot Series, and supports a range of research efforts on the integration of distributed energy resources. Prior to SEPA, Brenda worked as a consultant at ICF, focusing on distributed energy resources, Utility of the Future and grid modernization efforts.

She holds a master’s degree in sustainable development from the University of St. Andrews, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and environmental studies from Emory University.

Charisse Raysor

Senior Coordinator, Membership


Charisse joined SEPA in 2013. As Senior Membership Coordinator, she leads all administrative components to the member relations department. She’s accountable for developing and implementing procedures to ensure process continuity, while analyzing data to identify trends. Prior to SEPA, Charisse served as Membership & Sponsorship Account Manager for the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA). She also held the position of Membership Specialist for the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).

Charisse brings more than 10 years of membership services experience to SEPA.

Christine Stearn

Analyst, Utility Strategy


Christine joined SEPA in 2015. She advises utilities on strategic and operational plans for programs, products and services that will drive integration of solar resources into utility resource portfolios and business operations.

Prior to SEPA, Christine has had a variety of rewarding work experiences ranging from startups to working at a global sustainability think tank, to building an analytic program for a $3 billion operating organization. Christine presents on energy, sustainability, technology, climate and risk topics.

Christine has a love of travel, a taste for pancakes, an aptitude for technology, an itch to run and a desire to connect with others.

Corinne St. Laurent

Associate, Communications


Corinne St Laurent joined SEPA in February 2016 as Communications Associate, after relocating to the DC area from New Hampshire. Before moving, she worked as a Marketing Representative for Binnie Media, the largest media company north of Boston. She brings social media knowledge and great communications skills to SEPA from her time working in advertising on seven radio stations across New England.

Corinne graduated from Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. Since moving to DC she spends her off-time returning to the east coast to see family and trying as many new restaurants as possible. Corinne has a passion for traveling, world history and indoor rock wall climbing.

Cynthia Hunt Jaehne

Senior Manager, Programs


Cynthia Hunt Jaehne has more than 10 years of experience managing utility-scale solar studies and initiatives for a number of clients both in the U.S. and internationally. She is familiar with the various solar technologies and their use in large-scale projects.

In addition, her knowledge of the barriers and policies relating to successful and sustainable deployment and utilization of these technologies informs her role as SEPA’s Education Manager.

Prior to joining SEPA, Cynthia was a Project Manager for Morse Associates in Washington, DC. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina.

Daisy Chung

Manager, Research


Daisy Chung joined SEPA’s research team in 2014 to lead specialized solar research ranging from nationwide policy to utility customer offerings. She has also re‐launched the Utility Solar Database, a SEPA members‐only research tool for electric service providers, solar integrators, developers, and policymakers. She comes with years of process implementation experience as a thin‐films engineer at Samsung Austin Semiconductor, with specialization in process start‐ups, qualification, standardization, and failure and root-cause analysis through Six Sigma data analytics and strategies.

Dan Chwastyk

Manager, Utility Strategy


Dan Chwastyk joined SEPA in 2015, where he works as Utility Strategy Manager on the Advisory Services team. Dan formerly worked for Navigant where he worked primarily on energy efficiency, smart grid and demand response issues for government, utility and private sector clients.

He holds his bachelor’s in structural engineering from Penn State University and his master’s of business administration from Wake Forest University.

Elise Fritz-Gage

Meetings Manager


Elise Fritz-Gage joined SEPA in 2016 as the Meetings Manager. In this role, Elise is responsible for the logistical planning and execution of all SEPA events and strives to create meetings & events that exceed member expectations not only in content but in delivery. Elise has an extensive background working in the fields of higher education, associations, and start ups. She has an extraordinary knowledge of meetings and events with over 10 years in this industry. Additionally, Elise brings 6 years of association experience with her. She is excited to connect with members and deliver memorable and meaningful events.

Elise earned her bachelor’s degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management from Purdue University. She is very involved with professional meeting and event planning societies, and enjoys staying current on the latest trends. In her free time, she enjoys international travel, playing tennis competitively, and spending time with her husband.

Erika Myers

Senior Manager, Research


Erika Myers joined SEPA as Senior Manager of Research in July 2015. In this role, Erika is responsible for helping SEPA members through the development of research reports and tools to drive the integration of solar and other distributed energy resources into utility resource portfolios and business operations.

Prior to joining SEPA, Erika spent nearly four years as a consultant with ICF International and five years with the South Carolina Energy Office specializing in renewable energy and alternative transportation fuel policy and regulatory planning and development.

Erika has both a bachelor’s degree in biology from Clemson University and a master’s degree in earth and environmental resources from the University of South Carolina.

Erika Tomatore

Associate, Programs & Events


Erika Tomatore moved to Washington, D.C. from Southern California, and joined SEPA in 2016 as a Program and Events Associate, handling the operation of webinars for the Communications & Education team. Prior to joining SEPA, Erika worked as a Program Manager/Coordinator in Santa Barbara, California for Relevé Unlimited.

Erika earned her Master’s in International Studies with an emphasis on Southeast Asia from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. During her time at the Josef Korbel School, she wrote a Substantial Research Paper analyzing the Diaoyu/Senkaku Island dispute between China and Japan through the lens of international law and international theory, as well as several research papers focusing on Thailand and Indonesia. She also received her Bachelors in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. In her spare time, Erika enjoys traveling, hiking, and yoga.

Frank H. Grace IV

Senior Manager, Information Management


Frank Grace graduated from Virginia Tech in 2009 with a major in public relations and a minor in political science. Prior to joining SEPA, Frank interned on Capitol Hill for Congressman Connolly’s office. He also interned for Senator Whitehouse in 2007 and for Morgan Stanley in 2006.

Himali Shah

Senior Membership Associate


Himali Shah graduated from University of South Carolina in 2011 with a major in international studies. Prior to joining SEPA, Himali worked as a service manager for Wells Fargo.

In her spare time, Himali is an active leader in Toastmasters, a volunteer for Grid Alternatives and digital photography enthusiast.

Ian Motley

Manager, Marketing


Ian joined SEPA in 2015 as Marketing Manager, overseeing the development and execution of SEPA’s marketing and creative efforts. He comes to SEPA with over seven years of association and marketing experience. Ian received a Master of Science in International Marketing Management from Boston University and his bachelor’s degree in government and international relations from George Mason University.

He is a video game, cycling, Instagram and travel enthusiast as well as the owner of one very spunky cat named Monster.

Jason Turrisi

Marketing Associate


Jason Turrisi joined SEPA as a Marketing Associate in 2016 and supports the development and execution of the association’s marketing efforts. He has over 2 years marketing experience working with several Fortune 500 companies. Jason has a B.A. in Communication from George Mason University, along with multiple marketing certifications.

Jennifer Szaro

Senior Director, Programs


Jennifer Szaro joined SEPA in 2015 as Senior Director of Programs and currently manages SEPA’s extensive portfolio of educational offerings, including joint venture events such as Solar Power International (SPI) and targeted events like the Utility Solar Conference and annual Fact Finding Missions.

Prior to this, she spent nearly nine years as Renewable Energy Manager for the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) leading their solar energy, corporate sustainability and electric vehicle programs. She also conducted applied photovoltaic systems research for eight years as Senior Energy Analyst for the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), a research institute of the University of Central Florida (UCF). Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science Degrees in Environmental Science and Chemistry from Florida International University in 1997 and holds an MBA from UCF.

She has served on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations, including: SEPA, the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), the Florida Renewable Energy Association (FREA), Project Get Ready Central Florida and Drive Electric Florida. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and currently sits on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the UCF College of Engineering and Computer Sciences and the board of the Electric Vehicle Transportation Center.

Jenny Senff

Manager, Programs


Jenny joined SEPA in November 2015 as Program Manager. In this role, Jenny manages the annual Grid Evolution Summit – A National Town Meeting, along with various working groups, webinars, and workshops. Prior to joining SEPA, she spent five years as the Manager, Programs and Outreach, for the Association for Demand Response & Smart Grid (which joined forces with SEPA in the fall of 2015).

Jenny has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science form Wake Forest University and a Master of Arts in Government from Johns Hopkins University. Although her days of competitive softball, kickball, flag football, bowling and bocce are over, she now enjoys cheering on her Demon Deacons, the NY Mets and the NY Giants. Jenny lives with her family in NE DC.

John Sterling

Senior Director, Advisory Services


John Sterling joined SEPA as Senior Director of Research and Advisory Services in March 2013. In this role, John is responsible for helping SEPA members develop strategic and operational plans for programs, products and services that will drive the integration of solar resources into utility resource portfolios and business operations.

Prior to joining SEPA, John spent 11 years with Arizona Public Service. During this time, John focused on utility regulation, power procurement, demand response and smart grid program development and long-term resource planning issues.

John has both a Bachelor of Science in Finance and an MBA from Arizona State University.

Julia Hamm

President & Chief Executive Officer


Julia Hamm has 15 years of experience advising and collaborating with utilities, manufacturers and government agencies on renewable energy and energy efficiency strategies and programs. The knowledge and experience she has gained as the President and CEO of SEPA since 2004 makes her one of the world’s foremost experts on the nexus between utilities and solar energy.

Julia guides and oversees all of SEPA’s research, education and collaboration activities for its 1,000+ member companies. She has expertise on the business models and solar programs of more than 400 utilities throughout the U.S., as well as utilities in Europe and Asia.

Prior to joining SEPA, Julia worked for ICF International where she supported the EPA’s implementation of the ENERGY STAR program. Julia – a graduate of Cornell University – walks the talk, living in a PV-powered energy efficient home in Northern Virginia.


K Kaufmann

Communications Manager


K Kaufmann started writing about solar and clean energy as a beat reporter at The Desert Sun in Palm Springs. She covered the nearby city of Palm Desert, a town of 50,000 that spearheaded the drive for California to pass the first state-level property-assessed clean energy law and became one of the first cities in the nation to launch its own PACE program.

She eventually went on to cover energy full-time, tracking debates over net metering as well as the permitting and construction of megascale utility-solar plants in the Southern California desert, including Desert Sunlight, Genesis and Ivanpah. She also has a background in business writing, with more than 10 years as an independent consultant for major firms in the San Francisco Bay Area.

She has a bachelor’s degree in English and American literature from Brandeis University and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland.

Ken Doyle

Chief Operating Officer


Ken Doyle comes from a family of association professionals, including his father, brother, wife, daughter and daughter-in-law. He arrives at SEPA with extensive experience in all aspects of association management, from member engagement and government relations to revenue growth and staff productivity.

Ken spent 34 years as Executive Vice President of the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America (SIGMA), during which time he also formed and served as President of an affiliated nonprofit, The Fuel Foundation. He was a founding member and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the National Association Executives’ Forum, a national association formed in 2000 to provide its members with retirement, deferred compensation and other insurance products.

Ken received a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Arizona. He earned a professional designation as a Certified Association Executive from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and is also a society fellow.
