In December, the company committed to its vision for a carbon-free future, with an interim goal to reduce carbon emissions 80% by 2030. In this role, he is responsible for developing strategy and policies that will continue the company’s leadership in the clean energy transition while keeping customer bills low. Prior to joining Xcel Energy, Jeff was a Senior Policy Advisor with the Center for the New Energy Economy at Colorado State University, Renewable Energy Policy Manager in Colorado Governor Bill Ritter’s administration and Director of Western states Regulatory Affairs for Opower. Jared Luner Energy and Environmental Policy Analyst, Xcel Energy Jared Luner is an energy and environmental policy analyst with Xcel Energy in Denver, Colorado. In this role, he analyzes the impact of key state and federal energy and environmental policies and contributes to the development of corporate positions on issues including climate policy, sustainability, utility regulatory and business model reform, and clean energy and advanced technology policies. Jennifer Szaro Vice President, Research Prior to joining SEPA, Jennifer Szaro spent nearly nine years as Renewable Energy Manager for the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) leading their solar energy, corporate sustainability and electric vehicle programs. She also conducted applied photovoltaic systems research for eight years as Senior Energy Analyst for the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), a research institute of the University of Central Florida (UCF). Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science Degrees in Environmental Science and Chemistry from Florida International University in 1997 and holds an MBA from UCF. She has served on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations, including: SEPA, the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), the Florida Renewable Energy Association (FREA), Project Get Ready Central Florida and Drive Electric Florida. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and currently sits on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the UCF College of Engineering and Computer Sciences and the board of the Electric Vehicle Transportation Center.
