Erich Gunther was a leader in our industry and a champion for smart grid advancement. He touched all of us in some way and was quite literally the glue that helped hold us all together and work towards common goals without letting petty differences stop our progress. He was a very unique individual, and he is missed by all in our industry.

We want to honor his legacy and commitment to continuous learning and development of a better tomorrow for our industry and our grid. And as Erich was fond of helping us all remember, its people that make the difference. People with passion for our industry and passion to make the world a better place.

In tribute to Erich, many of us have worked with the IEEE Foundation to establish a scholarship in his name. Contributions to this scholarship will help inspire future professionals who are pushing the boundaries of current thought to make our industry better. We would like you to consider giving to this fund and help us find and create the next generation of Erich Gunthers who can help us drive our industry forward.
