SRP’s Mike Hummel: Partnering with the Navajo Nation for a Renewable Energy Economy

Since SRP began the retirement process for its coal-powered Navajo Generating Station in 2017, potential economic impacts on the Navajo Nation and Northern Arizona customers have always been top of mind. Mike Hummel shares how SRP partnered with the Navajo Nation for the transition, championed fundamental retraining of employees, responded to community needs and helped develop a renewables-focused roadmap for the future.
