Basic Application Profile for Distribution Feeder Measurement Based on the IEC 61850 Standard Facilitating multi-vendor interoperability of automated substation devices The IEC 61850 standard for utility automation contains an extensive set of standards on conformance testing and certification for intelligent electronic devices that are part of communications networks and systems in electrical substations. Conformance testing, however, does not guarantee interoperability between devices of different manufacturers. To address this challenge, additional constraints and definitions are needed, such as development of a Profile that narrows the range of supported data types, logical nodes, and other aspects of the overall standard. This document sets forth a Basic Application Profile (BAP) for measurement of an electrical distribution feeder circuit, identifying a subset of functionality defined by the IEC 61850 standard in order to facilitate multi-vendor interoperability. What’s in the report Use cases for communication of feeder measurement data Minimum set of functional and nonfunctional requirements Mapping of logical nodes and data elements to IEC 61850 Fill out this form to get the report.
