Get a look Into how we could achieve deeper electric utility customer engagement

As more smart energy technologies are deployed, consumers have more tools than ever before to make informed energy choices. After reading this report, you’ll understand consumer platforms and how they will shape the future of residential energy management. The platform would combine a customer’s household energy usage data (current and historical), preference settings, energy provider and third-party programs and offers, and use this information to help a customer understand and manage their energy use.

What’s inside:

The report was authored by the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative (SECC) with support from SEPA and includes results from interviews with industry experts, focus groups, and a survey of 1,300 potential platform users from across the U.S. More specifically, this report includes:

    • An overview of what is included in a consumer energy management platform with supplemental tool options suggested or used by industry experts
    • Insights on specific customer preferences for certain tools, such as Energy Rewards, Energy Managers, Retail Market Places, and other Additional Products and Services, and customer willingness to pay for these tools
    • Recommendations for next steps as utilities consider developing a customer platform
