Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice at SEPA For a carbon-free future, social equity is a must – not an option. View Guiding Principles A Guiding Principle of SEPA Social equity is one of eight guiding principles that informs how our organization conducts its work to a carbon-free energy system by 2050. Our social equity principle states: “Diversity, equity, inclusion and access for all are required for a fair and just carbon-free energy future.” Holding Ourselves Accountable SEPA is committed to advancing an inclusive workplace where every person feels valued, heard, and respected for their unique perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experiences with an understanding that those differences not only make us who we are but also ultimately benefit our organization as a whole, each of our teams, and us as individuals. In 2021, SEPA partnered with Cream City Conservation to conduct an employee culture assessment survey and develop SEPA’s Roadmap to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice. Creating the plan was just the first step. The DEIJ Workgroup, a committee of rotating staff members, work collaboratively to implement this plan and help SEPA stay accountable to its DEIJ commitments. Diverse Workforce Creating diversity in the energy industry is just as important to SEPA as diversity in our workforce. Work at SEPA Diverse Leadership SEPA has aggressive recruitment targets for our Board of Directors: gender parity and 40% membership from underrepresented communities (e.g. people of color, low-income, native populations, LGBTQ).
