On behalf of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) is engaging smart grid stakeholders on an industry-led effort, the Interoperability Profile task Force (IPTF), to develop standards-based interoperability profiles for the electric power sector. With its latest profile, the task force aims to assist product design for EV fleet charging devices and management interfaces that are trusted by consumers.

Given the complexity of the project, collaborative and engaged stakeholders are essential. Through virtual IPTF Forums, stakeholders will inform the development of processes, reach a common understanding of key issues and assess beneficial outcomes for stakeholders. We ask that participants approach the process with the same intention and provide constructive feedback to help understand specific stakeholder use cases and challenges.

The IPTF development effort and this stakeholder process are initially focused on utilities, fleet EVSE and charging network owner/operators and related research and development organizations. Our timeline is focused on delivering the EV fleet managed charging interoperability profile in 2021.
