Currently, there are gaps between managed charging program participation, future projections, and commission expectations. SEPA, Kaluza, WeaveGrid, AMPECO, and Uplight partnered to develop a set of evidence-based best practices that utilities, regulators, and companies can use to increase enrollment and participation and ultimately maximize the value of managed charging programs. Findings include: Innovative technology and partnerships are necessary to reach the full potential level of customer participation (i.e., 70-80% enrollment and participation). OEMs must work with utilities and technology providers to educate customers about managed charging programs at the point-of-sale. Utilities should be proactively targeting drivers where there is a strong value proposition for managed charging.
