Solar Industry Leaders Met for Orange Button℠ Kickoff Meetings on July 13 and 14 in San Francisco

SGIP Held the First Face-to-Face Meetings for the Orange ButtonSM Initiative

Wakefield, Mass., July 12, 2016 – SGIP and other solar energy leaders met for the Orange Button Kickoff meetings in San Francisco on July 13 and 14, 2016. In the first face-to-face meetings of the Orange Button initiative, five working groups convened to craft market requirements for solar data exchanges between systems/parties that will reduce costs.

Day One of the Orange Button Kickoff meeting was on July 13th at the InterContinental Hotel San Francisco at 4:00 p.m. PDT. Attendees met the SunShot Initiative awardees as well as representatives from the DOE who reviewed the Orange Button program and facilitated a question and answer session with solar industry leaders.

Day Two of the Orange Button Kickoff meetings was on July 14th at the Wells Fargo offices in downtown San Francisco from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PDT. More than 70 registered companies participated in the Orange Button Requirements Working Group meetings including: Deployment, Financial, Real Estate, Solar O&M, and Grid Integration. The primary objective of each Orange Button Working Group face-to-face meeting was to define and shape the data standard for transmitting solar data.

We are confident that we can leverage their collective knowledge and expertise to achieve the objectives of the Orange Button program.”
