Voices of Experience: Developing Utility Mapping Tools to Support Sustainability and Equity with SMUD

This webinar is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Electricity’s Advanced Grid Research Division Voices of Experience initiative.

SMUD developed a resource priorities map to identify the local areas most likely to be underserved or in distress from lack of community engagement, adequate income, affordable housing, employment opportunities, and transportation.  During this 30-minute interactive webinar, SMUD will share their methodology for gathering site selection criteria and datasets to build out their mapping tool.  The session will also provide an opportunity for participants to ask SMUD questions around the tool’s development and how it may be able to be replicated across the country to support equitable electrification.

The Audience will learn:

How to develop mapping capabilities at your utility
What a mapping tool can do for utilities and their stakeholders to identify electrification programs
How to ensure equity in developing new utility projects and initiatives
